Established in 1996, the Square Meaters breed was developed from a base stock of older styled Murray Greys. They are a medium framed breed of fast maturing, well muscled cattle with characteristic roundness in the hind quarters. As a result they are known to attract premium prices at the sale yard. The breed was designed for low birth weights and explosive early growth for high productivity and turnover. Commonly calves will achieve growth rates of 260 – 300 kgs at 8 – 9 months yielding a 140 – 160 kg carcase.
